Work Step by Step

The seminal vesicles are glands that contribute nutrients to the seminal fluid. They lie at the base of the bladder. Sperms are produced in the testes are stored and mature within the epididymis-- coiled tubes just outside the testes. From the epididymis sperms go through the vas deferens to the ejaculatory duct. The ejaculatory ducts propel semen plus sperms into the urethra of the penis during ejaculation. The prostate is a gland that surrounds the urethra just inferior to the urinary bladder. Prostatic secretions contribute to the semen. In old men prostatic hypertrophy may cause serious urinary problems--frequency and urgency. Prostate cancer is life-threatening. The bulbourethral glands lie posterior to the prostate. Their secretion also contribute to the seminal fluid. The anus is the opening of the rectum , the end of the digestive tract. The epididymis is a structure just outside the testis that stores sperms. Sperms also mature here and are passed on to the ejaculatory ducts in the seminal fluid. Testis. The testis is the male gonad . Sperms are produced here. Each testis is suspended in a scrotal sac. The scrotum. This is a sac ; a testis is suspended in each of the two scrotal sacs to keep them below body temperature. The foreskin is a fold of skin which covers the glans of the penis in the uncircumcised male . It is also called the prepuce. The glans penis is the enlarged tip of the penis. The penis itself is the male organ of intercourse. The urethra which passes through the shaft of the penis delivers semen into the vagina . The urethra is also the passage by which urine is voided from the urinary bladder. The urinary bladder is part of the genitourinary system but it is a sac in which urine is stored. . The ureters deliver the urine excreted from the kidneys to the bladder and this urine is periodically expelled pass through the penile urethra to the exterior in the act of urination.
