Chapter 6 - Bones and Skeletal Tissues - Review Questions - Page 197: 17

Answer

Osteocytes are not isolated from others, or from the Haversian canals. Cell processes connect w/ other cells and w/ the haversian vessels by means of small canals (Canaliculi) that run through the lamella.

Work Step by Step

The lacunae are linked by little channels in the bone called canaliculi. The caliculi help provides routes to the bone by which nutrients can reach the osteocytes and waste products can leave through caliculi.
