Out of the three types of cartilage (hyaline, elastic, and fibrocartilage), elastic cartilage is the least present in the body. It is only located in the pinna of the ear and the epiglottis. Its main function is to give flexibility while maintaining shape. You can test this yourself by folding or manipulating your ear and notice how it goes back to how it was before.
