Mitosis is a process in which a mother cell is replicated, along with its genetic material, into two identical daughter cells. This process, theoretically, continues for all cells, each cell replicating and dividing into daughter cells. Because the genetic material of the cells remain the same, and the mother and daughter cells are identical , mitosis can be thought of as cellular immortality.
