Lacrimal apparatus includes both the lacrimal gland that produces tears and the drainage system that drain tears. The pathway for drainage of tears start from lacrimal puncta (minute openings in the margin of the eyelids) to canaliculi and then to lacrimal sac. From the lacrimal sac, it drains to nasolacrimal duct that empties into inferior nasal conchae or inferior nasal meatus of nasal cavity.
