Answer

Immunocompetence is the ability of the body to fight against pathogens and prevent them from spreading in the body and forming a disease. They mobilizes the immune defense mechanisms to fight against them. When T cells and B cells are able to differentiate between self from foreign bodies and they can tolerate self-antigens and respond to non self-antigens they are said to have developed immunocompetence. The programming phase of B cells occurs in the bone marrow.
