Chapter 13, Trigonometric Ratios and Functions - 13.5 Apply the Law of Sines - 13.5 Exercises - Skill Practice - Page 886: 6

Answer

SSA, No Triangle

Work Step by Step

Law of sines: $\dfrac{\sin A}{a}=\dfrac{\sin B}{b}$ From the given measurements and information it can be seen that we have two angles and one side which corresponds to $SSA$ configuration. Also, $\dfrac{\sin 37^{\circ}}{8}=\dfrac{\sin B}{14^{\circ}}$ This gives: $\sin B\approx 1.0532$ The sine of any angle cannot be more than $1$, so this information yields that there is No triangle. Hence: Configuration is: SSA, No Triangle.
