hi. can someone help me?? i need to come up with a list of symbols for class tomorrow.

too late I know but I thought I'd better help you, that last post was just uncalled for and if I can't help you maybe i could help someone else. Symbols... umm...

colour - Tess wears white to show her purity.

Alcohol - a catylist for what happens (her dad coming home drunk from the pub and meeting the parson who told him about the D'Ubervilles for example) and also seen as a means to end problems (eg Retty and Iz)

love - metaphor for destruction. Tess loves Angel but it doesn't work out eg.

Can't think of anymore, hopefully that constructiive piece of advice helped someone.
