Part one ends with Paul mentioning a "Miracle." In the last sentence, he says, "The heavens had opened up for me." Copy that statement; then reflect on what the miracle is and what Paul means by his last statement in the Entry

When Paul is given a second chance to play soccer, Paul refers to it as “the miracle” and remarks that “The heavens had opened up for me.” His new school is a lot less wealthy than his prior school but they accept him. Playing soccer and belonging are all Paul wants in life. The sinkhole incident and subsequent relocation were actually blessings in disguise.

In Tangerine, Paul sees the sinkhole incident as a miracle because Paul was given a second chance to play soccer at Tangerine middle school, which Paul refers to as a miracle. "We have to talk about it here. The miracle happened here!" So, when Paul said, “The heavens had opened up for me.” because Tangerine middle school had accepted him and playing soccer is all Paul wants in life and the sinkhole incident was actually a blessing in disguie
