Sad Girl Poems and Other Writings Background

Christopher Soto, also known as Loma, is a contemporary US poet, activist and writer who was born in Los Angeles, California and now resides in Brooklyn, New York. They describe themselves as a 'queer latin@ punk poet', and prefer the pronouns 'They' and 'Them'. Their debut poetry collection 'Sad Girl Poems and Other Writings', published in 2016, discusses a variety of topics, notably their relationship with domestic violence and the topic of LGBTQ+ homelessness on the streets of one of the world's richest countries.

Written against the unpredictable and unprecedented backdrop of racial violence, the election of Donald Trump to the presidency, and the continuing debate over gun rights that America has witnessed in the past 12 months, 'Sad Girl Poems and Other Writings' is a moving and impassioned call for greater equality across society and greater recognition for all genders, sexual orientations, colors and creeds.
