The Logan Family always used non-violence to protest unjust treatment. Like Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights movement, the Logans used civil disobedience as a peaceful tool. They "boycott" the Wallace store. This attempt to take business away from the people that persecuted and used blacks is in line with the Civil Rights movement. The Logan family often bent the rules to make things tougher on their oppressors. The children concealing a hole, thus breaking the axle of the white school bus is another example of a type of civil disobedience used to get back at the people who regularly splash them with mud on their way to school.
