What concerns do Freddy's family have about him opening a flower shop? What ultimately leads to Clara and her mother granting their approval?

I have a study guide with those 2 questions and I cant seem to come up with the answer

Clara is concerned that her brother's marriage to Eliza and the opening of the flower shop will not help her own marriage prospects. When Clara begins to read H.G. Wells and travel in the circles of his fans, however, she decides to begin working in a furniture shop herself in the hopes that she might meet Wells (because the woman who owns the shop is also a fan of his).
