Two lodgers from St. Louis were to stay at her place. The two lodgers are going to be foreigners of acceptable type. This can shake up the very Southern white homogenous atmosphere of this small town,

"Italians! How romantic! Just think, Ma -- there's never been one in this town, and everybody will be dying to see them, and they're all OURS! Think of that!"
