Had Elizabeth considered the proposal, what made the substance and manner of its delivery so objectionable as to forbid her from delivering for a favorable response?

The manner of delivery included no mention of love or affection. Elizabeth would never have considered a marriage without love......... thus she would never have given a favorable response. Marriage as a business porposition, a marriage of convenience, would have been completely objectionable to her as she states in the novel.
