What kind of figurative language is the author using when he compares his heart to "the stealthy pace of a tiger?"

Story?

If the comparison uses the word like or as in it (his heart beat like the stealthy pace of a tiger), then you have a simile. If there is no like or as, you simply have a metaphor.
