Poe's Short Stories

Story: "The Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe.

What point of view does the author use? Is it effective here?

Poe uses the first-person point of view. His narrator is a textbook example of the "unreliable narrator," a man who claims to be sane, and later goes onto prove he is not. This point of view is the perfect choice for Poe's story, as the erratic thoughts and ramblings of a madman add to the frenzy and panic that steadily build up until his final climactic confession.
