Anoosh's Uncle Fereydoon had stood up to the Shah and had proclaimed independence in the province of Azerbaijan. Fereydoon had become the minister of justice. Anoosh had similar political ideas as his uncle, but Anoosh's father had remained loyal to the Shah.
