Curley and his wife are another example of isolation in the book. They are married but their relationship is abusive and dysfunctional. Their union only serves to intensify their personal isolation. Curley seeks refuge in violence and intimidation, while his wife, literally known as his property, seeks attention from other men using her sexuality.
