Which character? Do you mean Lennie? Lennie learns only what he needs to know to survive. George learns what he has to know to help keep himself and Lennie alive while hoping to figure out how to have a better life. These men do not have much of an educational process except a sort of on-the-job experience. My (or your) experience is based on the idea that all people deserve education and that education will help improve our station in life.
