in of mice and men why does curleys wife refer to lennie as a machine?

This happens when Lennie and Curly's wife come into contact near the end of the novella. Curly's wife says she knows that Lennie is really the "machine" that injured Curly's hand. Much of her side of the conversation is filled with sexual innuendo but of course Lennie is clueless to this.
