Curley comes into the bunkhouse under the pretense of looking for his wife. He really has come in to appraise George and Lennie. Curley, sensing Lenie's mental limitations, tries to intimidate Lennie. George understands what he is doing and tries to diffuse the situation. Later, George tells Lennie to stay clear of Curley in the future. He knows Curley has a bad case of small-man complex.
