Why did Oedipus come to Thebes? Was that his destination when he left Corinth? Why did he leave home?

An Oracle tells Oedipus about the prophesy involving him (Oedipus) killing his father and marrying his mother. For that reason Oedipus decides not to return home, Corinth, and instead travel to Thebes because it was near to Delphi. Oedipus wanted to see the oracle in Delphi.
