Oedipus Rex or Oedipus the King

what do you think were the effects of dramatic irony on the greek audience? How might they be related to religious prohecy and/or the literary technique of foreshadowing?

dramatic irony - occurs when a character says something that the audience knows to be ironic but which the character does not.

The effects of dramatic irony were that the audience knew the gods culd control the action in the play but the characters didn't.
