Oedipus Rex or Oedipus the King

How do the Thebans regard Oedipus and what reasons do they have for their opinion of him?

In line 35, the priest says that the Thebans know that Oedipus is mot an immortal god.

The Thebans regard Oedipus positively because he is their king and because he saved them from the curse of the Sphinx. He has been a good king and is trying now to solve the riddle of who killed King Laius. However, he is not a god and is not revered as such.
