Why do you think the Germans often chose a Jewish Holy Day to deliver some new horror?
In the beginning of the book if i remeber correctly, they are playing music.

They like to mock the Jewish faith. Instead of their Jewish God delivering them from evil, the Nazis enjoy adding yet another horror to the prisoner's lives.
