Many Prophecies in the bible begin with words such as "Hear ye this" or "Listen unto me." What similar sentence was used by both Moshe the Beadle and by Madame Schachter? Why did Wiesel put identical words into the mouths of these two characters?

Moshe pleaded with the people of sighet to listen to him. He often said things like, " Jews, listen to me !" This does sound rather Biblical like a prophesy he was going to unfold. Madame Schachter often said "Jews Look!" Both pronouncements sounded prophetic. They were lessons and warnings much like one would find in the Old Testament.
