Did Elie fast on Yom Kippur? What holiday is it? What does it mean to fast and why do people fast on this day? Why did or didn’t he fast?

Yom Kippur is also known as the Day of Atonement. It is the holiest day of the year in Judaism. Elizer is frustrated with his God and his religion. He doubts, even mocks, the idea that Jews are the chosen people. He questions why any kind of God would put his people in this situation. He is also starving, so he eats.
