Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Background

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Background

“Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” is a novel, which was written jointly by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn. This book tells about the teenage love, the relationship between teenagers during the difficult period of their life and about music, which is the major goal of the main heroes. The book was published in 2006 for teens. The novel has a very unusual structure. The book consists of the short chapters of the main personages Nick and Norah. David Levithan wrote Nick’s chapters, while Rachel Cohn wrote Norah’s chapters. It is a very extraordinary idea, because the reader will be able to experience the different sensations. Moreover, Nick and Norah’s emotions will not seem identical and boring. In addition, the authors decided not to describe the parents of the main characters, because this is a book about how to be young and how to deal with difficult situations without parental support. Sometimes, children hide many secrets from their parents.

The film was shot according to the novel and it was premiered in 2008. Kerry Kohansky Roberts, who is a producer of the film, was very interested in the book and that is why she decided to realize her idea. The film was shot in 2007, taking 29 days, near Brooklyn and Manhattan in New York. Most of the filming took place at night. Roberts's film has received very positive reviews.
