Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass

How does religion play a role in Douglass’s life and abolition?

This is one of the questions on my APUSH homework for the summer. I have read the book but I'm not sure how exactly to answer this question. I know that in the book Douglass critisizes slaveholder's who claim they're Christain, challenges the verse of Ham (He says that the curse of Ham does not justify slavery because there are a large number of mixed-race children, fathered by their own masters, who are still slaves), he states that religion does not make a good man (and precedes to talk about how several masters claimed they were religious, yet were very cruel to the slaves). Please help!!! I would greatly appreciate it!! Thank you :)
