At one part, I forger where exactly, Vladek tells Art about the year he was able to survive German restrictions on Jews by dealing in black market goods until his home he was forced to move into another part of town. It is at this point that Vladek encounters the execution of Jews for disobeying their German masters. This foreshadows the death camps.
