Mrs. Norris is rather a drama queen. When faced with Fanny moving in with her, she comes up with eighty overblown excuses why it is not a good idea.

MRs. Norris is extremely hypocritical. She says that she never thinks of herself, when it's obvious that she does. Before the excuse was Mr. Norris' illness, now, it's that her grief is to great. This shows hypocrisy because later that MRs. NOrris found herself without the incumberance of a husband. Later, she doesn't understand what she does wrong when she doesn't stop the play, and is pleased to have snick out the green curtain for her own use.
