At the end of the story, Mars Bar sends Amanda to get Maniac and bring him home.... as they return, he realizes that he finally has what he always wanted..... a call to come home.

Maniac was in the middle of running around but when Mars Bar sent Amanda Beales to get him he felt appreciated and accepted and that he finally knows he has a home for real.
