Lord of the Flies

What the hunters steal from Ralph, Piggy, and Sameric is Piggy’s glasses. Why do they steal during the night? What is the symbolic significance of what they steal? What do you think they will steal next?

All details appreciated!!!

Piggy has his glasses which of course means fire. The boys, by this time, have regresses to near cavemen. They know fire means (symbolizes) power, food, safety....Stealing the glasses from Piggy is the only way that Jack knows how to get it. They do this at night to intimidate the others. They come at night like a nightmare. I don't think the boys need anything from Ralph's group anymore.
