jack calls a meeting after they ran away from the 'beast' on the mountain top. what do the boys say happened ?

I don't believe Jack calls a meeting on the mountaintop in Ch. 8. Far off along the beach, Jack proclaims that he will be chief of the hunters and that they must forget about the beast. He says that they might go later to the castle rock, but now they will kill a pig and have a feast to celebrate their independence.
