Lord of the Flies

I have several questions about Lord of the Flies...

What does piggy mean by "haf swim" and "wasnt half dangerous"?

What rhetorical devices does Golding usr in his description of lights and breezes?

What is "the voice"? What does "the voice" represent? (referring to the first couple of pages in book)

Hey, it is better if you ask each question separately.

1. This is just Piggy's way of speaking.Using "half" is Piggy's way of saying enough or a lot.

2. There are so many descriptions of light and breeze that you will need to give me a chapter. Here is one though, "The shore was fledged with palm trees. These stood or leaned or re- clined against the light and their green feathers were a hundred feet up in the air. "

Note the repetition of how the palm trees stood.

3. The voice is coming from the thick jungle. I alway thought it was Piggy trying to catch up to meet Ralph.
