Goldings says in comparison of Jack and Ralph, "They walked along, two continents of experience and feeling unable to communicate." (page 50) how are the boys like continents?

Jack has a personality, temperament and agenda that is completely different from Ralph's. They are so far apart about what they want for the boys.
