Ralph, Simon and Piggy know how important shelters are. Although Piggy doesn't help, he is supportive in their efforts. Ralph knows that they need shelter in the dark and when there is a storm. There is also the unmentionable "beasty". The chapter chronicles how Ralph and Simon get no help with this important matter. The boys would rather live for the moment and play.
