Amy is a bit of a social climber. She values the validation of other girls who really don't care much for her. The lunch is way beyond her means to through and everything does go wrong. Hannah's cooking is less than to be desired, things are more expensive than Amy thought they would be, Beth is sick, Meg is busy, and Jo keeps breaking things. The whether is bad on Monday so the girls come on tuesday but the food goes stale. I think Meg learns that validation through others is not the path to happiness. I think she also learns to appreciate her family more.
