What does the sloth symbolize to Pi?

Pi thinks they are peaceful. Sloths remind Pi of the sort of "calm, quiet, and introspective" sense of being. Pi actually thought Sloth represented,

"upside-down yogis deep in meditation or hermits deep in prayer, wise beings"
