Letter From Birmingham Jail

Explain how King refers to "Hungarian freedom fighters", Communists, and "black brothers of Africa and his brown and yellow brothers of Asia, South America and the Caribbean"?

Why does he mention them? Remember, King may have a different reason for mentioning each group?

All of these examples are struggles of oppressed people against the establishment. Each example has a history to it that reflects the black struggle in the United States. King was, for example, a great admirer of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi brought India to independence from Britain using non-violent strategies like passive resistance, which King tried to emulate.
