Magua was loosely aligned with the French. It was the British he hated. Magua wishes to hurt the British, and does so by taking his revenge the best way he knows how....... kidnapping the Colonel's daughters. Feeling of anger toward the British for their actions and humiliation bring a desire for retribution.
