Both women are interested in men that they are not married to. In "The Kiss," Miss Nathalie tries to obtain Brantain's wealth by marrying him while simultaneously keeping Harvy's love in an affair. In "A Respectable Woman," Mrs. Baroda is happily married but is somewhat disturbed by the arrival of Gouvernail, to whom she is physically attracted.
