what happen in chapter 21?

-They had a three day march to the crossroads and they had run out of water. They used Gin, but this posed other obvious problems.

- They reached the junction of the two roads.

-The narrator is exhausted and dying of thirst. His uncle gives him the rest of the water.

-Uncle, however, refuses to turn back even though they are all near dead.

-The professor claims they will find water through another route.

- Axel reluctantly agrees.
