Jane Eyre

What were the positive effects of lowood school on Jane over the course of her time there?

What does she learn about herself? How does she develop as a person?

On her second day, Jane learns that life at Lowood School is difficult. The meals are hardly large enough to quell Jane’s hunger pangs, and the students are forced to sit through unending sermons. The school however is routine and predictable. Jane befriends other girls like Helen, who are not as strong as Jane. Jane has been through much worse in her life so the school and education she gets seems to empower her.
