If so, the people in the village find the stranger a mystery. He makes them nervous. Unlike the rest of the community, he doesn't go to church on Sunday, and he likes to take solitary walks in the evening. He also refrains from conversation or any type of interaction with irritability. The stranger obviously doesn't fit in and doesn't want to. Let's face it.... people are frightened of what they don't understand.
