What do you think of McCandless's decision to discard his identity and past life without a backward look?

This question calls for your opinion. There is no right or wrong answer. In my opinion, McCandless didn't properly think things through.... he wasn't prepared or knowledgeable enough about the path before him. Chris suffered from hubris, and that excessive pride became his killer. From all accounts, he was a great kid.... people loved him. None-the-less, he was impetuous and believed himself invincible. Lastly, I don't think his foray into Alaska was done without a backward glance..... I believe if he'd lived, he would have reestablished a relationship with his family.
