A ring of truth? I think being young certainly opens up possibilities and the idea that one has a right to what they seek. Unfortunately the world does not conform to human will. Chris had a sense of entitlement to his ideology. Reality, however, is not bound by Chris's romantic ideals. The wilderness especially shows no concern for the ideals of Chris or the writings of his author hero's Thoreau and Emerson.
