Why do you think Wagamese would focus so much on Saul’s descriptions of the nature he is overjoyed to see once again?

Saul lost his innocence when he left nature: he lost his identity. Hockey was his savior but when the racism destroyed his dream, he struggled to connect with something. Saul found nature again and re-discovered a sense of place.
