Where does my definition of community converge with that of Benedict Anderso? I find his description difficult and philosophical. In simple terms what is it that he is trying to say about the communities?

The first part of your question calls for your opinion. There is no right or wrong answer. In my opinion, communities are small groups of people all working together toward a similar goal. Yes, this would include church communities as you've cited above. It might also include school communities, work communities, and neighborhood communities.

In Anderson's view, as evident in Imagined Communities, his version of a community is far larger in scale, as he cites that a nation is a community, which relies on social construct, and which also requires the members of said nation to utilize their imaginations in order to perceive themselves as a part of the group.
