So few people celebrate the birth of a baby girl because, in their society, men are always put above women no matter what the situation is. They believe that all women are good for is preparing food and giving birth to children. A woman in Pakistan isn't allowed to do anything without a man's consent. That shows how little freedom they have. Men control their lives. Malala's father's reaction towards her birth was positive. He was happy that she was born and "fell in love" when he looked into her eyes after she was born. Since he is different from most Pashtun men, he didn't care that she was a girl.
